Worker Held in Theft of Gas Meant to Aid Others
A New York state employee is facing criminal charges after prosecutors
say he stole gasoline intended to help stranded motorists. Brian
Lee was facing arraignment in Nassau County district court on Wednesday.
He faces charges including petit larceny, official misconduct and
falsifying business records. The name of his attorney was not immediately
known.

Arrested in Gas Theftg
ATEHACHAPI, Calif.
-- With gas prices remaining high, gas thefts are still a common
problem facing law enforcement. One of the latest reported incidents
was at a Tehachapi gas station. Four men were arrested on charges
of diesel fuel theft and drug possession after being caught stealing
from the same gas station on two different occassions with the
same two vehicles according to police. Both incidents were all
caught on tape.

Arrested on Eight Counts of Gasoline Theft
Police arrested Karleena
Lorren Kempf, 35, 99 Elm St., on eight counts of stealing gas
from the HyVee store at 2110 E. Main St. According to police reports,
station manager Bradley Hopping told police the driver of a white
Saturn had taken gas and driven off without paying eight different
times between May 19 and June 10. The most recent time he was
able to get the license number. He provided police with the receipts
of the thefts that gave the times and amounts of gas stolen.
